Founded in 1947 in Delaware, USA, by Daniel W. Varel, the Varel Manufacturing Company quickly established itself as a leader in mining and drilling equipment. It launched innovative products like the rotary three cone and fixed cutter drag bits by 1950. After several expansions and acquisitions, including the strategic formation of Varel International Energy Services (VIES) in 2008, the company was acquired by Sandvik in 2014. Despite a divestment in 2019, the mining division was retained and renamed Terelion, now based in Carrollton, Texas, continuing its legacy of innovation in the industry.
